Software Engineer, Observability Platform (SMTS, LMTS)

Salesforce is seeking a Software Engineer for their Observability Platform team, focusing on innovating and maintaining massive-scale distributed systems that monitor Salesforce's infrastructure. This role is part of the Network Visibility and Telemetry team within the Infrastructure Strategy Datacenter Operations organization.

The position offers an opportunity to work on critical systems that deliver metrics, telemetry, and alerting for data center infrastructure, including network and storage components. You'll be joining a dynamic, global team that supports technology infrastructure to meet Salesforce's substantial growth needs.

As a Software Engineer in this role, you'll leverage your expertise in building and deploying large-scale systems to:

• Automate systems services across various infrastructure types (storage, network, server)
• Enable infrastructure telemetry collection
• Enhance infrastructure visibility and accessibility
• Implement effective alerting systems

The ideal candidate should have 8+ years of experience for Lead position or 5+ years for Senior position, with strong expertise in Java and/or Python, distributed systems, and automation. Knowledge of Linux systems, CI/CD practices, and configuration automation tools is essential. Experience with container orchestration, network engineering, and application databases would be highly valuable.

The position offers competitive compensation based on location and experience, with base salary ranges of $157,600 to $253,000 for Washington-based roles and $172,000 to $276,100 for California-based roles. This is a hybrid role with locations in either Bellevue or San Francisco offices, offering flexibility while maintaining office connectivity.
