Description For Marketing Data Engineer

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is seeking a Marketing Data Engineer to join their Data and Analytics team within Marketing. This role is critical in enabling revenue performance by providing marketing and sales teams with insights, tools, infrastructure, and consultation for data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain marketing databases, datasets, pipelines, and Samsara's Customer Data Platform (CDP) to enable advanced segmentation, targeting, automation, and analytics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing critical data pipelines for growth initiatives and advanced analytics
  • Facilitating data integration and transformation between applications
  • Developing and improving data architecture, quality, monitoring, and availability
  • Writing sophisticated yet optimized data transformations in Python/SQL
  • Working with stakeholders to understand requirements and build efficient, scalable data products

The role requires:

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related field
  • Excellent Python and SQL knowledge with strong hands-on data modeling
  • Experience with modern data technologies (e.g., Databricks, DBT, Google BigQuery)
  • Familiarity with customer, marketing, and web data
  • Experience integrating data from core Sales and Marketing platforms

Responsibilities For Marketing Data Engineer

  • Develop and maintain marketing databases, datasets, pipelines and Samsara's Customer Data Platform (CDP)
  • Manage critical data pipelines to enable growth initiatives and advanced analytics
  • Facilitate data integration and transformation requirements for moving data between applications
  • Develop and improve the current data architecture, data quality, monitoring and data availability
  • Identify data needs from broad stakeholders and build efficient and scalable data products
  • Write sophisticated yet optimized data transformations in Python/SQL
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles

Requirements For Marketing Data Engineer

Python
  • 3+ years of working experience in a data engineering or data engineering adjacent role
  • Excellent Python and SQL knowledge with strong hands-on data modeling
  • Experience with data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools
  • Hands-on experience working with modern data technologies stack
  • Comfort in working with business customers to gather requirements
  • Familiarity with customer, marketing and/or web data
  • Experience integrating data from core Sales and Marketing platforms
  • Self-starter, motivated, responsible, innovative and technology-driven individual
  • Good communication and project management skills
