Description For Electro-Optical Satellite Payload Engineer

Space Systems Integration (SSI) is seeking an Electro-Optical (EO) Satellite Payload Systems Engineer in Chantilly, VA, with the opportunity for some remote work. This role involves providing Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to SSI's customer. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated electro-optical satellite experience and be able to provide technical and programmatic insight into various satellite capabilities and activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the office responsible for commercial overhead data acquisition
  • Providing advisory expertise in assessing commercial satellite provider's electro-optical space systems
  • Coordinating commercial electro-optical provider's support to USG exercises, demonstrations, and operational collections
  • Applying optical payload engineering knowledge to support acquisition milestone events and reviews
  • Assisting in Government source selections and technical evaluations of commercial satellite provider proposals
  • Working in an interactive team environment with Government customer leads and commercial satellite developers

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering, Physics, or similar technical discipline
  • TS/SCI with CI Polygraph (within 10 years)
  • Experience with electro-optical satellite programs and understanding of EO first principles
  • Familiarity with EO system functionality, performance, and product data structures
  • Knowledge of EO image product types, collection modes, and quality figures of merit
  • Satellite acquisition experience, including requirements writing and evaluation
  • Ability to contribute to modeling and simulation campaigns
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • MS in Engineering, Physics, or similar technical discipline
  • 5+ years experience in electro-optical satellite programs
  • 3+ years experience with EO image products and data structures
  • 7+ years of EO satellite acquisition experience
