SpaceX is seeking an Automation and Controls Engineer for the Raptor engine program. This role is crucial in designing and integrating automated systems that increase Raptor production, reliability, and enable new manufacturing technologies. The Raptor engine is key to SpaceX's mission of reaching the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Design and manage automation projects from ideation to operational handoff
- Develop PLC code for high-volume manufacturing applications
- Implement safety-compliant systems for manufacturing equipment
- Create user-friendly HMI screens for complex machines
- Design electrical systems compliant with industry regulations
- Manage schedules, budgets, and motivate the team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or computer science
- 1+ years of experience in industrial or factory automation design
- Excitement for quick, iterative design and manufacturing
- Problem-solving skills with a focus on simple solutions
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to adhere to safety requirements
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in mechanical design, motion systems, CAD, and manufacturing processes
- Electrical system design and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in industrial software, including PLC programming, HMI development, and robotics programming
