As part of this mission, they're deploying Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system, which is currently serving over 5M+ users worldwide through the largest satellite constellation ever created.

The Data Engineer, Regulatory (Starlink) role is a critical position focused on building and maintaining mission-critical services and tools for the Starlink project. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing data solutions that simplify and accelerate data accessibility across regulatory/licensing data and other vital Starlink information.

The role combines technical expertise in data engineering with the strategic importance of supporting Starlink's global expansion through regulatory compliance. You'll work on automating processes, building data repositories, and creating self-service tools that enable teams to work more efficiently with data.

This position offers the unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge space technology and data engineering, directly contributing to Starlink's mission of providing global internet coverage. The role requires being based in Washington, DC, with up to 20% travel, and includes working with cross-functional teams to support Starlink's policy objectives and continued growth.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer, Regulatory (Starlink)

  • Build tools and workflows that improve internal efficiency and collaboration, prevent internal data silos and process breakdowns, and scale with global growth
  • Automate time-intensive, repetitive tasks to significantly reduce manual effort
  • Fuse data from multiple unstructured sources to build organized, usable data repositories
  • Create shared tools that enable self-service access, allowing teams to explore and analyze data independently
  • Build and maintain high quality automation to assist with Starlink's policy objectives and continued growth
  • Work closely with Starlink Regulatory and partner teams to assess future needs and position the company accordingly

Requirements For Data Engineer, Regulatory (Starlink)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, physics, mathematics, or a STEM discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in analytics, data science, data engineering, or software engineering
  • 1+ years of experience in Python and SQL
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirement)
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
