Description For Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

SpaceX is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to join their team at Starbase, TX. As part of a small, hardworking team of technicians and engineers, you will provide technical expertise and assist in implementation of all environmental, health and safety programs at the rocket development & test site. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in both environmental and occupational safety fields, hands-on, and works well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing detailed safety reviews of complex hazardous operations
  • Leading incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Developing and maintaining compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and other regulatory agencies
  • Implementing safety and health programs (OSHA standards, HAZCOM, confined space, fall protection, etc.)
  • Developing environmental programs (SPCC, SWPPP, air permitting, hazardous waste management)
  • Monitoring employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards
  • Inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment
  • Developing safety contingency plans

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety disciplines. Preferred qualifications include a degree in engineering with emphasis on occupational health and safety or environmental engineering, knowledge of process safety management, and experience with emergency response communication.

This is not a remote position and will require relocation to the Brownsville, TX area if not already local. The position may require extended hours and weekend work when needed.

  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, ATF, TCEQ, TRRC regulations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (ITAR compliance)
