Description For Integration & Test Engineer (Starlink)

SpaceX is seeking an Integration & Test Engineer for their Starlink project. This role is crucial in understanding every system on the satellite and ensuring that satellites achieve their mission. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of design, schematics, operations, manufacturing, testing, and flight. They should demonstrate engineering intuition, critical thinking, and be comfortable working under ambiguous requirements with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing integration build flow and test operations
  • Evaluating proposed designs for manufacturability and integration
  • Interfacing with engineers and technicians to optimize manufacturing and automation
  • Developing and refining manufacturing assembly procedures
  • Enabling day-to-day execution of vehicle integration and test flow
  • Evaluating non-conformances to determine root cause and create improvements

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and at least 1 year of professional mechanical design or hands-on manufacturing experience. Preferred skills include experience with integration and testing of various systems, working with composites and avionics, documentation management, and production environment experience.

This position offers competitive compensation, with salary ranges from $95,000 to $130,000 per year, depending on the level. SpaceX provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical coverage, 401(k), stock options, and paid time off.

The role is based in Redmond, WA, and may require up to 10% travel to launch sites. Candidates must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed. Due to ITAR requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or eligible for required authorizations.

Requirements For Integration & Test Engineer (Starlink)

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of professional mechanical design or hands-on manufacturing experience
  • Experience with integration and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and/or structural systems (preferred)
  • Experience working with composites and integration of avionics systems (preferred)
  • Documentation and configuration management experience (preferred)
  • Experience writing test plans, procedures, and providing go/no-go judgment (preferred)
  • Experience in a production environment (preferred)
  • Demonstrated engineering intuition, critical thinking, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel to launch sites up to 10% of the time
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for required authorizations due to ITAR requirements
