As a Lead Network Operations Engineer for the Starlink project, you'll play a crucial role in bringing high-speed broadband internet to every corner of the planet. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with brilliant, passionate engineers while tackling complex networking challenges.

The role involves leading a team of network operations engineers to develop and implement processes for Starlink's network infrastructure. You'll be responsible for managing the physical build-out of POP rack production lines, capacity planning, and establishing networking standards. Your team will work closely with SRE and data center personnel to ensure smooth operations of the network.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $130,000 to $180,000 per year, along with comprehensive benefits including medical coverage, 401(k), stock options, and paid time off. The role is based in Redmond, WA, where you'll have access to company shuttle service.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in networking protocols, Python scripting, and infrastructure management, combined with leadership experience. You'll need to understand service provider technologies, network security, and troubleshooting methodologies. Responsibilities For Lead Network Operations Engineer (Starlink)

  • Lead a team of network operations engineers to develop processes, implement, and scale Starlink Network transit, backbone and backhaul connectivity
  • Plan and execute the physical build-out of our POP rack production line
  • Provide input into capacity planning, forecasting, and expansion strategy
  • Work with engineering team to develop and enforce structured cabling standards
  • Lead team to work with SRE and data center smart hands to diagnose issues
  • Manage and coordinate a 24/7 on-call rotation

Requirements For Lead Network Operations Engineer (Starlink)

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline OR 2+ years professional experience
  • Experience with Python, SQL, and/or bash scripting
  • Experience with modern networking protocols
  • 1+ year experience in a manager/leadership role
  • Understanding of service provider and home networks technologies
  • Experience with network security and Anti-DDoS measures
  • Current associate level or higher industry networking certification
