Description For Space Lasers Engineer (Starlink)

SpaceX is revolutionizing space technology with its ambitious mission to enable human life on Mars. As part of this vision, they are seeking a Space Lasers Engineer to join their groundbreaking Starlink program. This role sits at the intersection of advanced optical engineering and space technology, focusing on developing cutting-edge satellite free-space optical communication systems.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on the world's most advanced satellite laser communication systems, directly contributing to SpaceX's mission of providing global high-speed internet coverage. As a Space Lasers Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, validating, and operating free-space optical communication systems that will revolutionize how data is transmitted around the world.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in optics and photonics, combined with hands-on experience in laser technology and precision mechanical design. You'll work with state-of-the-art optical equipment and be responsible for everything from system architecture definition to performance testing and validation. The role requires both technical depth in optical engineering and the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines, including software, manufacturing, and reliability teams.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone passionate about pushing the boundaries of optical communication technology while contributing to SpaceX's larger mission of making humanity a multi-planetary species. The position offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and the chance to work with some of the industry's brightest minds on technology that will define the future of global communications.

Working at SpaceX means being part of a fast-paced, autonomously driven environment where your work will have direct impact on the development of space technology. The company culture emphasizes innovation, problem-solving, and the ability to make critical decisions with limited information. If you're excited about combining your expertise in optical engineering with space technology and want to be part of a team that's literally reaching for the stars, this role at SpaceX could be your next career milestone.
