Description For Staff Reliability Engineer

As a Staff Reliability Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of SPAN's products through systematic analysis and testing.

The position requires a blend of hardware and software expertise, particularly in reliability engineering for hardware products. You'll be responsible for reviewing product BOMs, conducting failure analyses, implementing reliability testing plans, and maintaining Python-based diagnostics firmware. The role involves close collaboration with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and quality assurance to ensure product consistency and reliability throughout the lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of experience in reliability engineering, with a strong educational background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. You should be proficient in reliability analysis tools like FMEA and fault tree analysis, with a deep understanding of material degradation mechanisms and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities For Staff Reliability Engineer

  • Review new product BOMs for electrical and mechanical component compliance
  • Create and maintain test and reliability reports
  • Conduct component HALT and Sherlock simulations
  • Develop and implement reliability testing plans and methodologies
  • Conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with design engineers on product reliability evaluation
  • Lead Failure Analyses (8D) on issues discovered during testing
  • Maintain and improve Python-based diagnostics firmware
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Work with manufacturing and quality assurance teams

Requirements For Staff Reliability Engineer

Python
  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics and Controls Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in reliability engineering
  • Understanding of material degradation mechanisms
  • Proficiency in reliability analysis tools (FMEA, 8D report, fault tree analysis)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools
