Senior Machine Learning Engineering Manager - Personalization

Spotify's Personalization team is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead their Text-to-Speech (TTS) team, Speak. This role is crucial in developing new personalized sessions with generative voice AI to enhance user experience.

As the leader of the Speak team, you'll be responsible for delivering innovative voice experiences that enrich users' interactions with music and podcast recommendations. You'll collaborate with various stakeholders to develop a generative voice AI vision and strategy, keeping Spotify at the forefront of innovation in this field.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading a team of ~20 professionals, including applied research scientists, machine learning engineers, and data specialists.
• Directly managing 5-10 people and fostering a balanced, collaborative engineering culture.
• Advocating for advanced voice capabilities across the company and influencing senior leadership.
• Collaborating with product leads to define strategy, metrics, and roadmaps.
• Influencing the technical design and architecture of the Speak team's stack.

The ideal candidate should have:

• Significant expertise in generative voice and speech, or experience in modern generative audio with a willingness to specialize in voice and speech.
• Proven ability to lead a text-to-speech or modern generative AI audio team.
• Strong servant leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach team members.
• Experience in bringing research to market as consumer-facing products.
• Excellent communication skills to distill complex information into easy-to-understand concepts.
