The role is a Senior Lead Developer position focusing on Data Engineering at Stafford Gray, specifically working on the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). This is a hybrid position based in Lansing, Michigan, requiring extensive experience in data engineering and leadership. The position involves maintaining and enhancing a critical public health surveillance system, leading technical teams, and working with complex data systems. The role requires expertise in AWS, Databricks, Elastic Search, and Python/Scala, combining technical leadership with hands-on development. Responsibilities For Senior Lead Developer - Data Engineer
- Lead the design and development of scalable and high-performance solutions using AWS services
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support of the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS)
- Implement and manage Elastic Search engine for efficient data retrieval and analysis
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Python/Scala
- Develop database objects including stored procedures, functions
- Develop software design documents and work with stakeholders for review and approval
- Provide technical guidance to other developers in the department
- Participate in analytical assignments for enhancement, integration, maintenance, and implementation of projects
- Ensure data integrity and SEM/SUITE compliance
Requirements For Senior Lead Developer - Data Engineer
- Must be local to Mid-Michigan
- 12+ years developing complex database systems
- 8+ years Databricks
- 8+ years using Elastic search, Kibana
- 8+ years using Python/Scala
- 8+ years Oracle
- 5+ years experience with ETL processes and developing Data Pipelines
- 5+ years experience with AWS
- 5+ years experience with data warehousing, data visualization Tools, data integrity
- 5+ years using CMM/CMMI Level 3 methods and practices
- 5+ years implemented agile development processes including test driven development
- 3+ years Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Experience with AWS Cloud-based Application Development
- Experience in Electronic Health Records (EHR) HL7 solutions
- Excellent knowledge in designing both logical and physical database models
