Description For Key Engineer, Vice President

State Street is seeking an experienced Security Engineer at the Vice President level to lead their cryptographic key management initiatives. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, focusing on developing and maintaining enterprise-wide security solutions.

The position involves leading a team of professionals while working on critical security infrastructure, including key management systems (KMS) and certificate management systems (CMS). The role requires deep expertise in cryptographic systems, security automation, and enterprise architecture, with a focus on NIST compliance and best practices.

Key responsibilities include developing automation solutions, implementing security frameworks, and integrating various security systems across cloud and on-premise environments. The successful candidate will work closely with architecture teams to design and evaluate security strategies, while also maintaining and improving existing systems.

The ideal candidate brings 5-7 years of relevant experience in security engineering, system administration, and infrastructure development. Strong technical skills in PKI, encryption, API development, and modern DevOps tools like Kubernetes and Terraform are essential. Experience in financial services is considered a plus.

This role offers a competitive salary range of $130,000 - $205,000 annually and is based in either Quincy or Boston, Massachusetts. Responsibilities For Key Engineer, Vice President

  • Leading a team of CMS and KMS professionals to define and deliver on encryption strategies
  • Developing and evolving a NIST compliant framework for KMS, CMS across the enterprise
  • Developing and maintaining system orchestration to automate day to day processes
  • Developing and maintaining data reporting using vendor tooling
  • Evolving the framework for system monitoring related to security alerts
  • Developing automation approaches to solve KMS, CMS lifecycle challenges
  • Analyzing legacy KMS, CMS solutions for security gaps
  • Providing guidance for complex, cross-organizational projects
  • Partnering with architecture teams to design KMS, CMS strategies
  • Integrating applications and third-party products into internal KMS, CMS services

Requirements For Key Engineer, Vice President

Kubernetes
  • 5-7 years of experience working with KMS, CMS architecture
  • 5-7 years of System Administration of Windows, Unix/Linux
  • 5-7 years of experience in infrastructure engineering
  • Expertise in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) machine identity technologies
  • Experience with workflow and API development
  • Experience with Restful APIs JSON XML
  • Experience with K8s, CICD, Terraform
  • Experience developing executive-level reporting
