Backend Engineer, Core Technology

Stripe is a leading financial infrastructure platform powering millions of businesses worldwide. As a Backend Engineer in Core Technology within Stripe Infrastructure, you'll be responsible for the reliability, scale, performance, and cost of Stripe's systems. You'll work across critical areas including Core Infrastructure (tier0 systems), Developer Infrastructure, Data Platform, Admin Platform, Support Experience, Service Platform, and Financial Systems.

You'll be building and maintaining foundational platform services that enable Stripe products to operate at scale. Your work will directly impact the productivity and efficiency of Stripe's engineering teams while ensuring high reliability and availability of critical systems.

The role offers exposure to various technologies and systems, from low-latency microservices to large-scale data pipelines and machine learning models. You'll work with technologies like Go, Java, C/C++, and contribute to distributed systems that power Stripe's global financial infrastructure.

Key focus areas include:

• Building customer experiences for internal and external Stripe teams
• Participating in roadmap planning and prioritization
• Collaborating with multiple stakeholders across Stripe
• Debugging production issues across various stack levels
• Optimizing distributed system performance
• Contributing to critical infrastructure systems including compute, networking, databases, and caching
