This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with vast amounts of data and create impactful solutions for Stripe's Growth, Sales, and Marketing teams.

As a Software Engineer in Growth Data Engineering, you'll be at the forefront of managing business-critical data leveraged across the entire organization. Your work will be crucial in providing visibility into Stripe's Growth organization performance and improving customer experiences.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing efficient data pipelines, models, and products
  • Collaborating with Data Science teams to apply statistical models on large datasets
  • Building and refining Stripe's data foundations using tools like Scala, Spark, and Airflow
  • Creating client libraries and frameworks for accurate user behavior tracking
  • Integrating experimentation infrastructure for full-funnel measurement and personalization

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 3+ years of experience in Data or Software Engineering
  • Strong background in building data pipelines and big data applications
  • Proficiency in distributed data frameworks like Spark or Hadoop
  • Expertise in scientific computing languages (Scala/Python) and SQL
  • Full-stack development experience with Java/Go and React
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Identify data needs for Growth, Sales, and Marketing teams, understand their specific operational and reporting requirements, and build efficient and scalable data products & pipelines to enable data-driven decisions across Stripe
  • Design, develop, and own data pipelines, models, and products that power Stripe's Growth, Sales, and Marketing teams
  • Help the Data Science team apply and generalize statistical and econometric models on large datasets
  • Develop strong subject matter expertise and manage the SLAs for both data pipelines and full stack web applications
  • Build Stripe's Customer Engagement Data Service
  • Build and refine Stripe's data foundations using Scala, Spark, and Airflow
  • Design and build client libraries and frameworks to log events and accurately track user behavior
  • Refine existing data marts for Sales and Marketing forecasting
  • Build data pipelines that track key GTM product metrics
  • Integrate different parts of Stripe's experimentation infrastructure

  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering or Software Engineering role, with a focus on building data pipelines, or applications powered by big data
  • A strong engineering background and interest in data
  • Prior experience with writing and debugging data pipelines using a distributed data framework (Spark / Hadoop / Pig etc)
  • An inquisitive nature in diving into data inconsistencies to pinpoint issues, and resolve deep rooted data quality issues
  • Knowledge of a scientific computing language (such as Scala or Python) and SQL
  • Experience with full stack development languages such as Java or Go, and front-end frameworks such as React
  • The ability to communicate cross-functionally, derive requirements and architect shared datasets
