Takeda Pharmaceuticals, a leading global pharmaceutical company, is seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer to join their technology organization. This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead and transform Agile practices at scale within a healthcare industry leader.

The Release Train Engineer will be instrumental in orchestrating multiple Agile teams within the Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring smooth delivery of software solutions that impact patient care and pharmaceutical development. This position combines technical leadership with Agile coaching, requiring both deep understanding of software development practices and expert knowledge of scaled Agile frameworks.

Key responsibilities include leading the Agile cadence across teams, facilitating crucial ceremonies like PI Planning, and maintaining progress metrics that drive continuous improvement. The role requires collaboration with product and technology teams to align delivery with business objectives, while also coaching organizational leaders on SAFe, Agile, and Lean practices.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience with a strong foundation in Computer Science or related field, demonstrated expertise in Microservices Architecture, and a proven track record of implementing scaled Agile practices. They should be adept at working with various stakeholders, from development teams to executive leadership.

This position offers the flexibility of 100% remote work with minimal travel requirements (up to 2%). The compensation package is highly competitive, ranging from $137,000 to $234,800 per year, reflecting the senior nature of the role and its strategic importance to Takeda's technology organization.

Responsibilities For Release Train Engineer

  • Lead the Agile cadence and ensure participation from team members and stakeholders across the ART
  • Lead multiple functional Agile teams within the ART through backlog grooming, planning, development, testing, and release deployment
  • Establish and communicate calendars for sprints and deployments
  • Maintain visual progress metrics for velocity and burndown
  • Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness and execution
  • Track feature execution across teams
  • Facilitate scaling meetings
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams on product vision and roadmap
  • Manage and resolve program risks and dependencies
  • Coach and mentor program leaders on SAFe, Agile, Lean, and Scrum practices

Requirements For Release Train Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Experience with Microservices Architecture and System design
  • Experience with database concepts
  • Knowledge of System and Design thinking practices
  • Experience with standardizing Agile practices at Solution Train and Release Train level
  • Experience with value stream refinement and measurement using OKRs and KPIs
  • Ability to establish governance for Release train and conduct ART ceremonies
  • Experience coaching Agile practitioners and implementing scalable best practices
