Description For Software Engineer

Talent Worx is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Power Systems Applications team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining advanced software solutions for Electric Utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and Transmission and Distribution System Operators. The position requires expertise in power systems and software development, combining domain knowledge with technical skills to deliver high-quality software solutions.

The ideal candidate will work on enhancing and supporting the Electricity Energy Market Management System (MMS), requiring both technical programming skills and domain expertise in power systems. They will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer

  • Enhance, evolve, and support high-availability Electricity Energy Market Management System (MMS)
  • Develop, test, integrate, and tune advanced Power Systems Application software
  • Develop software in a dynamic and agile environment using latest technologies
  • Provide domain knowledge and technical support to electricity markets application software engineers
  • Interact with Product Development Teams, Customers, Solution Providers, and cross-functional teams
  • Apply SDLC principles and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI
  • Provide maintenance of power systems application functionality
  • Create tools for model conversion, documentation, and user interfaces

Requirements For Software Engineer

Java
  • Master's degree in Electrical Power Systems with thesis or related work in power systems
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in development or project delivery
  • Experience in Power Systems Analysis, Security Constrained Unit Commitment and Economic Dispatch
  • Proficiency in programming skills such as C++ or Java
  • Knowledge of Perl, PowerShell and SQL (MSSQL and/or T-SQL) scripting languages
  • Strong knowledge of source control management, particularly GitHub
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in the power systems domain
  • Good understanding of database operations
