Description For Technical Support Engineer (Hybrid/Columbia MD)

Join our Technical Support Team at Tenable where you'll play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between our products and customers. Solve real-world technical challenges by offering exceptional support for cutting-edge vulnerability assessment and compliance auditing software. Your expertise will shine in complex, multi-layered customer environments. Our suite of products, including Nessus, Tenable One, Tenable.io, Tenable.cs, Tenable.ad, Tenable.sc, and Tenable.ot, offers a diverse range of opportunities.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with other Tenable teams, including Sales, Customer Advocacy, Research & Development, and Operations
  • Troubleshooting and addressing customer technical inquiries
  • Using remote troubleshooting techniques
  • Analyzing vulnerability scan results, system audits, and log events
  • Helping customers understand and resolve issues quickly
  • Recreating customer software issues in a lab environment
  • Ensuring customer feedback is properly captured and channeled to Product Management and R&D
  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of Tenable products and information security best practices
  • Creating and publishing solution knowledge for re-use
  • Continually reviewing personal performance metrics

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, Linux/Unix, macOS, Windows administration, patch deployment, and system configuration
  • Previous experience in customer support or network security
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with a desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Ideal candidates will have experience with:

  • Nessus or other vulnerability management tools
  • Ticketing systems (JIRA, Salesforce, Zendesk)
  • Log analysis using SIEM products
  • Database technologies and SQL
  • Virtualization technology
  • Programming languages
  • Industry Security Standards
  • Certificates and CAs
  • Reviewing PCAPs with tools like Wireshark
