Description For Analytics Engineer, Thermal & Chassis

Thermal & Chassis Engineering at Tesla is the team behind innovative products like the Tesla Heat Pump, Supermanifold, Octovalve, Superbottle, Airwave, and Bioweapon Defense Mode. This multi-disciplinary team works across all phases of development from idea inception to fleet support. As an Analytics Engineer in this team, you'll drive data analytics and work cross-functionally to uncover opportunities for product improvements. You'll analyze vehicle data, extract insights, and make actionable recommendations to enhance product performance, quality, and customer experience. Key responsibilities include writing efficient SQL/Python code, building effective models for hardware optimization and vehicle diagnostics, and creating data pipelines and visualizations. You'll work with large datasets, collaborate with engineers, and play a crucial role in driving material product improvements through data-driven decisions. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Prior internship/work experience in data analytics or related field
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for efficient queries and data analysis
  • Knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools (Matplotlib, Seaborn)
  • Experience with time-series sensors data analysis
  • Ability to take ownership of projects with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience with distributed computing (Spark/Hive/Hadoop) is a plus
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering concepts
  • Experience with data products and dashboards (Tableau, R Shiny, or D3) is beneficial
  • Experience in building impactful machine learning models is a plus

Responsibilities For Analytics Engineer, Thermal & Chassis

  • Analyze vehicle data and extract useful insights to improve product performance and customer experience
  • Write efficient SQL/Python code and complex queries across extensive data sets
  • Build effective models for hardware optimization, controls, and vehicle diagnostics
  • Conduct end-to-end analyses, from data requirement gathering to processing and modeling
  • Identify and interpret trends in complex data sets and create dashboards and reports
