Description For Brakes Software Integration Engineer, Chassis Systems

Tesla's Chassis Systems Team is seeking a Brakes Software Integration Engineer for a safety-critical role. You'll work cross-functionally to drive vehicle level and brake system software requirements, collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers. Key responsibilities include owning brake system components, firmware, and feature roadmaps, defining software requirements, implementing interfaces, prototyping vehicle software, and ensuring safety compliance. You'll also represent brake system development in program decisions and lead firmware development reviews.

The ideal candidate should have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, with relevant experience in brake systems, chassis systems, or supplier management. Knowledge of networked micro-controllers, CAN protocols, version control, and continuous integration is preferred. Experience in safety-critical software development and software fundamentals is a plus.

Tesla offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $120,000 - $252,000 annually, plus cash and stock awards. Responsibilities For Brakes Software Integration Engineer, Chassis Systems

  • Own brake system components, firmware, and feature roadmaps
  • Define system and component level software requirements and test criteria
  • Implement interfaces, prototype vehicle software, test in-vehicle, and arrive at system functional and performance requirements
  • Investigate improvements such as removing latencies, improving accuracy, improving control smoothness, increasing uptime and reliability
  • Perform safety analyses, audit supplier safety posture, and ensure safety and homologate compliance of brake system software
  • Represent brake system development for program decisions, escalate supplier constraints, and lead firmware development and release readiness reviews

Requirements For Brakes Software Integration Engineer, Chassis Systems

Linux
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • Relevant domain experience in brake systems, chassis systems, supplier management, tier-1 automotive supplier or software management
  • Experience with networked micro-controllers, CAN or other vehicle networking protocols
  • Knowledge of version control (Git) and continuous integration (Jenkins) is preferred
  • Experience in developing safety-critical or mission-critical software is preferred
  • Experience in software fundamentals including software design and maintainability is preferred
