Data Engineer, Fleet Analytics

Tesla's Fleet Analytics team is seeking a talented Data Engineer to work on critical projects involving vehicle data analysis and metrics. The role involves building data pipelines, applications, and tools to leverage petabytes of data collected from Tesla's products. You'll be responsible for identifying, computing, predicting, and communicating core metrics about Tesla's vehicle products, and driving cross-functional efforts to improve these metrics.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building applications and data pipelines for efficient analysis of petabytes of data
• Designing and implementing metrics, applications, and self-serve tools for engineers
• Writing clean, tested, and maintainable code
• Providing guidance on best practices in Data Engineering and Data Science
• Keeping up-to-date with relevant technologies and proposing new ones
• Identifying trends and inventing new ways to analyze data to drive product improvements
• Contributing to the data science community through talks and open-source projects

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and/or Scala
• Understanding of electrical systems
• Professional software development experience
• Experience with infrastructure tools (Linux, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Ability to approach complex problems from first principles
• A smart but humble attitude with a bias for action
