Description For Engineering Technician, ATD & Instrumentation, Passive Safety

Tesla is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their Passive Safety ATD & Instrumentation team. This role is integral to Tesla's vehicle safety testing program, working with anthropomorphic test devices (ATDs) and sophisticated instrumentation systems. The position involves hands-on work with data acquisition systems, sensor installation, and test execution in both in-house and external lab environments.

Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, ATD & Instrumentation, Passive Safety

  • Identify, source, and procure required data acquisition equipment and sensors
  • Maintain sensor library and oversee sensor repairs and calibration activities
  • Install data acquisition equipment and various sensors
  • Develop daily work plans to achieve test plan goals
  • Design and create custom brackets and fixtures for testing
  • Support testing activities, vehicle preparation, and tear-down
  • Select appropriate sensing devices for data collection systems
  • Perform onsite support and testing, including monitoring and validating data

Requirements For Engineering Technician, ATD & Instrumentation, Passive Safety

Linux
  • Extensive experience with data acquisition systems and vehicle instrumentation
  • Proficiency in operating hand and power tools, shop tools, and automotive equipment
  • Ability to operate diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and test equipment
  • Competence with MS Office tools and Adobe products
  • Strong ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%)
