Description For Engineering Technician, In House Cell Engineering

Tesla's Cell Engineering team in San Diego is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their innovative team working on cell prototype development and validation. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of electric vehicle battery technology, combining hands-on technical expertise with analytical problem-solving.

The position involves working directly with Tesla's cutting-edge cell production equipment and processes, where you'll be responsible for quality control, testing, and optimization of battery cell manufacturing. You'll conduct crucial validation tests, perform failure analysis, and work on improving production efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, In House Cell Engineering

  • Cell assembly In-process quality measurements and documentation
  • Maintaining cell production equipment and processes while meeting quality targets
  • Finding ways to keep cell equipment and processes running efficiently
  • Conducting cell failure and root cause analysis
  • Following safety guidelines for component and cell-level tests
  • Assisting with equipment setup and validation processes
  • Conducting and reporting cell validation/abuse testing
  • Running test procedures including burst test, pull test, torque test, and CT scans

Requirements For Engineering Technician, In House Cell Engineering

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience in MS Office with excellent Excel skills
  • Ability to document metrics and execute in-process inspections
  • Experience with measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, multimeters)
  • Strong desire to learn advanced characterization and analysis techniques
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
