Description For Internship, Crash Safety Component Validation Engineer, Vehicle Firmware (Winter/Spring 2025)

Tesla is seeking an Intern for the Crash Safety Software team to start around January 2025 and continue through the entire Winter term (i.e. through May 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. The internship requires a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site commitment.

The Crash Safety Software team develops and integrates restraint controller functionality that makes Tesla's vehicles the safest on the road. As an intern, you'll join a growing team tackling the mission to improve real-world crash safety through smart engineering and ambitious innovation. You'll work with insights gathered from Tesla's global connected vehicle fleet and state-of-the-art crash lab.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Processor-in-the-Loop (PIL) infrastructure improvements
  • Adding new test features
  • Updating tester hardware and interfaces as needed

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • Expected graduation date between April 2025-May 2026
  • Experience working in simulation environments (highly preferred)
  • Prior testing experience
  • Knowledge of C/C++
  • Experience with Python
  • Hands-on experience with electronics is a plus
