Tesla is seeking a Thermal HVAC Controls Engineer Intern for their Vehicle Controls team for Winter/Spring 2025. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge thermal management systems in electric vehicles.
As an intern, you'll be involved in researching and developing estimation and control algorithms for thermal management of the powertrain, battery, cabin HVAC, and heat pump. You'll build dynamic thermal system models using tools like Matlab/Simulink/Python and use them to develop and refine control strategies. Working closely with firmware/integration engineers, you'll perform on-vehicle testing to design, implement, test, debug, and calibrate algorithms.
This role requires a strong background in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and control systems. You should be pursuing an advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or Automotive Engineering. Experience with embedded firmware development in C/C++ is also beneficial.
