Description For Manufacturing Test & Equipment Engineering Technician

Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Test & Equipment Engineering Technician to join their innovative team in Sparks, Nevada. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside Engineers in developing testing equipment for batteries and power electronics components used in Tesla vehicles and energy products. The position focuses on creating custom, high-power, automated testing equipment for production lines worldwide.

As a technician, you'll be involved in the entire development process, from initial conceptual development to final implementation. Your responsibilities will include working with various engineering disciplines, handling electrical modifications, performing precise wiring work, and managing equipment assembly. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely with high-voltage systems.

Responsibilities For Manufacturing Test & Equipment Engineering Technician

  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development
  • Interact with various mechanical, electrical, and software Engineers throughout project
  • Modify electrical enclosures and panels
  • Perform electrical/control panel wiring
  • Conduct fixture and frame assembly
  • Generate aesthetically simple looking wire routing and builds
  • Handle packages and support delivery of testing equipment to contract manufacturers

Requirements For Manufacturing Test & Equipment Engineering Technician

  • 2+ years hands-on experience building/wiring up various hardware
  • Exposure to mechanical systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment
  • Ability to follow mechanical drawings
  • Experience with test equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, Variable DC power supplies)
  • Experience with fixture assemblies
  • Must be comfortable around High Voltage
  • Ability to use basic shop tools
  • Must be able to solder and crimp both large and small components
  • Experience with cable management and wire routing
