Description For Mechanical Engineer, Drive Unit NVH Test, Drive Systems

Tesla is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Drive Unit NVH Test to join their Drive Systems team in Palo Alto. This role is crucial for developing Tesla's innovative electric drive systems while ensuring optimal acoustic performance. The position involves collaborating with Drive Systems Engineers and NVH Specialists to tackle complex industry challenges and deliver world-class NVH performance.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and executing drive unit engineering NVH tests, performing data analysis, and working closely with the Design team to resolve NVH issues. They will play a key role in assessing the impact of design changes on NVH performance and supporting new technology development.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer, Drive Unit NVH Test, Drive Systems

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee execution of drive unit engineering NVH tests
  • Perform NVH data analysis and risk assessment
  • Collaborate with Drive Unit Design team to investigate and resolve NVH issues
  • Assess NVH impact of drive unit design changes
  • Support Drive Unit Design team with NVH tests for new technology development
  • Work with Vehicle NVH and Drive Unit Manufacturing teams
  • Monitor drive unit NVH dyno yield and resolve critical issues

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer, Drive Unit NVH Test, Drive Systems

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in drive unit or transmission NVH testing or similar field
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated, and excellent team player
  • Experience working in a dynamometer lab
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle and motor/gearbox NVH
  • Familiarity with vehicle instrumentation and CAN communication
  • Experience in data processing and correlation studies
  • Experience with Siemens LMS TestLab and NI VeriStand
  • Hands-on experience executing drive unit NVH tests
