Description For Mechanical Engineering Manager, Low Voltage Electronics

Tesla's Low Voltage Electronics team is seeking an experienced mechanical engineering leader to head mechanical engineering/product design and thermal teams for all electronics modules, along with multi-disciplinary engineering teams for camera and display hardware. This role demands strong technical and people skills, with a proven track record in both areas.

As the Mechanical Engineering Manager for Low Voltage Electronics, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of engineers and other engineering managers
  • Owning system-level design and development timelines of electronics components
  • Collaborating with key partners in firmware, integration, manufacturing, test, and supply chain
  • Driving engineering process improvements and providing technical contributions
  • Leading architecture and design reviews of mechanical systems and components
  • Generating and maintaining product and component design requirements
  • Driving team prioritization and goals while nurturing career growth
  • Staying current with industry trends to keep Tesla at the forefront of electronics and technology innovation

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of mechanical product design experience with a track record of taking multiple products to market
  • 5+ years of management experience or experience in a technical leadership role
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of thermal and mechanical design fundamentals
  • Experience with electronics module development (camera, display, audio, antenna, computer, sensors, etc.)
  • Experience designing for high-volume assembly and manufacturing
  • Excellent communication skills
