Tesla is seeking a Powertrain Controls Engineer to join their Vehicle Controls team in developing cutting-edge algorithms for their electric vehicles. This role focuses on ensuring seamless torque delivery across Tesla's vehicle lineup, working on features like Plaid acceleration mode, Self-Driving, and One-Pedal Driving. Responsibilities For Powertrain Controls Engineer, Vehicle Controls
- Develop control-oriented models of the powertrain, and use them to develop, implement, and refine control strategies
- Work with Firmware and Integration engineers to implement, test, and debug algorithms
- Calibrate powertrain performance attributes like pedal response, drive-ability, torque split
- Improve tools and processes used to calibrate algorithms for future powertrains
- Work with Mechanical, Electrical, and Firmware Engineers to define control system capability
- Advance the state-of-the-art in Powertrain Control systems
Requirements For Powertrain Controls Engineer, Vehicle Controls
- Excellent background in linear systems analysis, state-estimation, and control systems
- Excellent proficiency with creating controls-oriented dynamic system models
- Understanding of electric propulsion, motion control systems, and batteries
- Ability to design, analyze, and implement control systems in real-world applications
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work in fast-paced environment
- Basic proficiency with embedded firmware development in C/C++
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with vehicle longitudinal performance characteristics (preferred)
