Tesla's Chassis System Software team is seeking a Software Integration Engineer to develop production-ready software for chassis actuators that control vehicle motion and dynamics. This role combines software development with hardware integration, requiring expertise in embedded systems, motor controls, and vehicle dynamics. The position involves working with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that meet rigorous safety and performance standards. You'll be responsible for prototyping embedded systems, conducting in-vehicle tests, and making critical architecture decisions that impact vehicle electrical systems. Responsibilities For Software Integration Engineer, Actuators, Chassis Systems
- Lead architecture design decisions spanning software, hardware, electronics, manufacturing, and service
- Arrive at sensor, actuator, and compute performance requirements
- Bring up software to evaluate various prototype hardware and PCBAs
- Develop frameworks and tests to evaluate actuator performance
- Perform system safety analysis like FMEAs, FTAs, to arrive at the safety requirements
- Work with test engineering to design validation and rollout strategies
- Own the sign-off of production code for over-the-air update to customer vehicles
- Travel to suppliers around the world to evaluate teams, technologies, work on program roadmaps, and unblock hot topics for development
Requirements For Software Integration Engineer, Actuators, Chassis Systems
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Proficiency in C, familiarity with MISRA C and Python
- Knowledge of microcontroller peripherals such as ADC, GPIO, PWM and SPI
- Experience with reading electrical schematics and understanding circuit behavior
- Experience working with sensors and digital signal processing
- Experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
- Familiarity with control loops and PID controllers
- Familiarity with field-oriented motor control and permanent magnet motors a plus
- Knowledge of version control (Git) and continuous integration (Jenkins)
- Experience with power electronics, MOSFETs, gate drivers, etc.
- Experience with vehicle chassis physics
- Experience with electro-mechanical systems
