As a Sr. Battery Mechanical Design Engineer for Megapack, you'll be part of the Battery Module Design Team, designing world-class battery systems from the ground up using a first principles approach. This collaborative role involves extensive cross-functional work with teams like systems engineering, electrical/firmware engineering, validation test, manufacturing, and service.
You'll have end-to-end ownership of battery system designs for new and existing Tesla Energy products, ensuring optimized requirements and successful scaling into mass production. Your responsibilities include component and system mechanical design of entire battery systems, build-to-print mechanical design component ownership, developing and executing validation plans, collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine specifications, and developing trade studies for future product roadmaps.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of product design experience, proficiency in CAD modeling (CATIA V5/6 preferred), experience in high volume production design, and strong skills in structural analysis and material science. You should be proficient in GD&T, understand tolerances, and be able to develop high-quality drawing packages. Familiarity with battery cell manufacturing and design is a plus.
