Description For Supply Chain Engineer

Tesla is seeking a Supply Chain Engineer to join their Tooling, Process & Training team. This role is responsible for developing custom service tooling, hardware, and procedures to assist in the rapid development and maintenance of Tesla Energy's storage and charging solutions. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical and project management background, along with experience collaborating with broad cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing timelines, planning, and coordination of parts and materials for installation and service tools development
  • Working closely with various teams to ensure Field Applications projects are supported on time
  • Driving the set-up and fulfillment of Megapack tools for the Certified Service Provider Program
  • Handling sourcing activities, including BOM navigation, RFQs, pricing negotiations, and PO drafting
  • Overseeing global fulfillment of tools and logistics
  • Supporting process improvements for logistics, cost reductions, and tool procurement operations
  • Collaborating with other teams to identify and implement improvements in procurement and tool management processes
  • Managing NPI IPOs, Tooling IPOs, and Containment Parts sourcing
  • Assisting with the fulfillment of 25-30 IPOs per week and managing 5-10 POs

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, buyer/planner roles, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of BOM management, vendor negotiation, and purchasing processes
  • Experience with RFQs, POs, and vendor management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines
  • Strong project management skills
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment, tooling, or field service hardware
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with ERP systems, procurement software, and project management tools
