Description For Technical Program Manager, Residential Energy Software & Firmware

Tesla's Energy Engineering Products team is seeking a Software Program Manager to lead the delivery of outstanding firmware and software for residential products. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in managing complex programs and leading large cross-functional teams. This role requires a deep understanding of firmware and software system development, with a focus on delivering exceptional product performance and customer experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define product roadmaps and owning their execution
  • Leading short and long-term development projects, from requirements definition to field trials
  • Managing partnerships with various internal groups and resolving conflicts
  • Creating and managing challenging schedules while delivering on commitments
  • Raising the bar on product and team quality, acting as a customer advocate
  • Inspiring and leading internal improvement initiatives
  • Managing regular production releases

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to grasp complex technical topics and manage risks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, JIRA, Confluence, and Git
  • Experience in Agile development environments
  • A degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years leading large, cross-functional teams as a program manager or engineering leader
  • 3+ years working with software or firmware teams

  • Lead short- and long-term development projects including requirements definition, application architecture, UI design, implementation, automated quality testing, continuous deployment, and field trial
  • Facilitate & project manage partnerships with key internal groups
  • Manage and resolve conflicts while influencing cross-functional teams
  • Create detailed schedules and deliver on commitments
  • Raise the bar on product and team quality, and be a customer advocate
  • Inspire, lead, and organize internal improvement initiatives
  • Manage releases to production at a regular cadence
  • Deliver tactical needs while maintaining strategic focus and vision
