Tesla, a leader in electric vehicles and clean energy, is seeking a Test Engineer for High Voltage Distribution in their Semi division. This role, based in Palo Alto, California, is perfect for an Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineer with a passion for innovative automotive technology.

As a member of the Reliability and Test team, you'll be at the forefront of developing and implementing test programs for electric vehicle high voltage distribution components and subsystems. Your work will directly impact the performance and reliability of Tesla's cutting-edge electric vehicles.

Key responsibilities include developing test programs, creating design validation plans, designing test equipment, and performing comprehensive validation under various conditions. You'll work closely with design engineers, analyzing test data, writing reports, and driving product improvements through root cause analysis of failures.

The ideal candidate brings a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience) and at least 2 years of experience in physical testing and analysis of mechanical, thermal, or electrical systems. Familiarity with automotive component/system testing, including certification testing, is crucial. Proficiency in Python, Matlab, or similar data acquisition and analysis software is required.

  • Develop and implement test programs for electric vehicle powertrain technologies
  • Work directly with design engineers to create design validation test plans
  • Design and fabrication of test equipment for mechanical, thermal, and electrical systems
  • Perform component, system, and vehicle validation under dynamic and environmental conditions
  • Work with design engineers to validate and refine models
  • Analyze test data and write test reports
  • Investigate root cause of failures and help to drive product improvement

Requirements For Test Engineer, High Voltage Distribution, Semi

Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in physical testing and analysis of mechanical, thermal, or electrical systems
  • Automotive component/system testing experience, including certification testing
  • Experience with Python, Matlab, or other data acquisition and analysis software
  • Design of test setups for mechanical and thermal performance testing, such as fixtures for shock and vibe testing
  • Experience creating and executing design validation plans and test methods to validate performance requirements
  • Experience creating analytical and numerical models of mechanical, thermal, or electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of heat transfer and thermal management
