Tesla's Vehicle Dynamics Modelling team is seeking a Vehicle Dynamics Modeling Engineer to join their innovative group. This role is crucial in predicting and aligning the lateral and longitudinal behavior of all Tesla vehicles with the brand's attributes. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, developing, and deploying infrastructure that allows non-expert users to explore the design space of vehicles in motion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining modelling infrastructure for various aspects of vehicle dynamics
- Creating performance metrics for all aspects of vehicle motion
- Developing vehicle and rig-test procedures for modelling-specific requirements
- Deploying modelling infrastructure for large-scale structured experiments and flexible studies
- Communicating findings clearly and timely
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience in multibody or mechanical system modelling
- Experience in vehicle instrumentation and data analysis
- Creative problem-solving skills and interest in new approaches
- A desire for continued learning
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
Additional valuable experience includes:
- Developing performance goals for different vehicle specifications, markets, controls, and autonomous vehicles
- Other modelling methods like Finite Element or Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Vehicle subjective evaluation on public roads and proving grounds
- Real-time control system conceptualization, implementation, and development
