Description For Associate Software Engineer

The Boeing Company is seeking an Associate Software Engineer for their Cobalt Charger team in Herndon, VA, supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security organization. This role is part of a software development team modernizing legacy systems into a container-based microservice architecture for navigation solutions. The position focuses on developing C++ and Java backend microservices and requires collaboration with the Boeing Software Enterprise to implement best practices and standards.

The role demands an active TS/SCI clearance and at least 3 years of experience in C++ microservice development, Java data services, or CI/CD pipeline implementation. The position is 100% onsite and requires U.S. Person status. The compensation range is $92,650 - $125,350, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and various insurance options.

The ideal candidate will have experience with containerized applications, Kubernetes orchestration, ROS2 framework, and publish/subscribe architectures. A Bachelor's degree in a technical field is preferred. The role involves daily Scrum meetings, code reviews, software testing, and documentation. Responsibilities For Associate Software Engineer

  • Develop software source code, unit tests, and documentation for assigned tasking
  • Participate in daily Scrum team meetings for tasking status and prioritization
  • Perform peer code reviews and software checkouts
  • Perform software design reviews and create tasking backlog
  • Perform software testing and defect tracking

Requirements For Associate Software Engineer

  • 3+ years of experience in C++ microservice development, Java data services or CI/CD pipeline implementation
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15
  • Experience with containerized applications and Kubernetes (preferred)
  • Experience with Robot Operation System (ROS2) application framework (preferred)
  • Experience with publish/subscribe data flow architectures (preferred)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science (preferred)
