Description For Chief Software Engineer–Simulation

The Boeing Company is seeking a Chief Engineer for Software Engineering Modeling, Simulation and Emulation in Everett, WA. This pivotal role will shape Boeing's future simulation framework supporting all programs throughout their lifecycle. Reporting directly to the Director, you'll serve as the lead technical authority, ensuring product integrity and driving innovation in simulation and modeling.

The position requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in aerospace simulation, behavioral modeling of complex systems, and hardware emulation. You'll work in a casual but professional environment with multi-disciplined engineering teams, developing and delivering innovative solutions. The role offers significant impact through technical decision-making and initiative leadership.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the design of Boeing's future simulation framework, guiding the Engineering Office, collaborating with stakeholders, and leading legacy system modernization. The position requires extensive experience in object-oriented programming, software development tools, and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $174,250 to $270,250, with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and various insurance options. The role requires 25% domestic and international travel, U.S. Person status, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Requirements For Chief Software Engineer–Simulation

  • 10+ years experience with object-oriented programming languages (C/C++, Java, Rust, or Python)
  • 10+ years experience with software development tools (GitLab, Bazel, Cargo, Make, Docker)
  • 10+ years experience in software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation
  • Experience with cloud-platform technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15
  • Ability to obtain U.S. Top Secret Clearance
  • 25% domestic & international travel required
