Description For Compiler Software Engineer (Senior/Subject Matter Expert)

Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is seeking a Senior/Expert Compiler Software Engineer to join their Disruptive Computing & Networking (DC&N) team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge compiler technologies for next-generation aerospace systems.

The position involves creating software for world-class, disruptive systems and technologies. You'll be working with a team focused on concept development, requirements gathering, architecture design, and system development. The role requires expertise in compiler design, implementation, and optimization, with a focus on high-performance computing systems.

As part of Boeing's software capability, you'll collaborate with world-class scientists and engineers, working on innovative technologies including AI/ML, Advanced Training & Simulation, Autonomy, Cybersecurity, and High-Fidelity Digital Twin & Virtualization. The projects span across Commercial Airplanes, Defense Space & Security, and Global Services businesses.

The role offers significant technical leadership opportunities, where you'll guide compiler development projects and lead a team of software engineers. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing new compiler features, optimizing existing systems, and ensuring the integration of compiler technologies across various applications.

A background in compiler frameworks like LLVM or GCC is highly desired. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

This is a full-time, on-site position available in multiple locations including El Segundo, CA, Fairfax, VA, Annapolis Junction, MD, and Huntington Beach, CA. Responsibilities For Compiler Software Engineer (Senior/Subject Matter Expert)

  • Lead the design and implementation of new compiler features and optimizations
  • Lead activities for analyzing and improving the performance of existing compilers and tools
  • Lead a group of compiler software engineers to integrate compilers into various software applications
  • Provide technical leadership for compiler projects and lead software supplier management activities
  • Handle user inquiries, troubleshoot technical issues and user feedback analysis
  • Develop and maintain documentation for compiler architecture and functionality
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for software compilers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve compiler-related issues and bugs

  • 3+ years of experience with Agile development methodologies

  • Experience with application performance analysis and monitoring
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
