Description For Software Engineer–Embedded Linux Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level)

The Boeing Company is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join their Linux Embedded Platform Team. This remote position focuses on supporting the Boeing Engineering Test & Technology (ET&T) organization, developing and maintaining Linux Operating Systems for both Safety-Critical and non-Safety critical applications.

The role involves working in multi-disciplinary teams alongside Systems Engineers, Testers, business leaders, and customers to design, build and assure Linux distributions and new OS features. This is a strategic position that impacts multiple product areas across the enterprise.

Key responsibilities include developing software architectures, writing code, creating test procedures, and maintaining software systems. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in C/C++ programming and Linux OS development. Additional valuable skills include experience with various programming languages (Python, Rust), development tools (git, gcc, clang, bazel), and embedded systems technologies (bootloaders, hypervisors).

Boeing offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and various insurance options. The salary range is competitive, with Associate level positions ranging from $84,150 to $129,950, and Mid-Level positions from $102,850 to $159,850.

This is a fully virtual position with occasional travel (less than 10%). The role requires the candidate to be a U.S. Person due to export control compliance requirements. Responsibilities For Software Engineer–Embedded Linux Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level)

  • Develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Development of code and integration of software components into functional software system
  • Develop software verification plans, test procedures and test environments
  • Support development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
  • Plan, execute and document software research and development projects
  • Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance
