Description For DevOps Engineer

The Boring Company, founded to tackle soul-destroying traffic through underground tunnels, is seeking a DevOps Engineer for their Bastrop, TX headquarters. This role focuses on improving systems and processes, with a strong emphasis on automation and Kubernetes deployment. The ideal candidate has experience building from scratch, not just managing existing systems, and possesses CI/CD building expertise. Over time, the role may expand into internal app development, making API integration experience valuable.

Key responsibilities include setting up new development tools, understanding stakeholder needs, overseeing code releases, writing specifications, testing code, solving technical problems, and project planning. The position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, adaptability to changing requirements, willingness to work long hours when necessary, and a desire to learn and grow.

Responsibilities For DevOps Engineer

  • Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers
  • Working with developers and other IT colleagues to oversee code releases
  • Writing specification documents
  • Testing and examining code written by others and analysing results
  • Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and 'fixes'
  • Planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions
