The Boring Company, founded to tackle soul-destroying traffic through underground tunnels, is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for their Las Vegas Loop project. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a revolutionary underground transportation system. As an intern, you'll focus on designing and developing tools for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data from thousands of daily rides.
Key responsibilities include implementing scalable web services, improving operational efficiency, formulating performance metrics, and developing web tools to display these metrics. You'll also support Loop operations, potentially during weekends or holidays.
Ideal candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, have prior software development experience, and proficiency in multiple coding languages. Strong web development skills, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, are essential. Knowledge of web APIs, communication protocols, and solid math and statistics fundamentals are also required.

Responsibilities For Software Engineering Intern
- Implement reliable and scalable Web services to monitor the Las Vegas Loop
- Improve Loop operational efficiency by deploying web tools for various teams
- Formulate statistical metrics to evaluate the Las Vegas Loop performance
- Develop and deploy web tools to display performance metrics
- Clearly document and communicate design proposals
- Support the Las Vegas Loop during hours of operations, including weekends or holidays when necessary
Requirements For Software Engineering Intern
- High School diploma or GED and currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent field
- Prior experience in software development projects (industry or school)
- Proficiency in 2 or more coding languages
- Experience with Web Technologies: HTML, CSS, JS, Node.js and at least one of jQuery, React, Angular, Vue or similar
- Understanding of how to develop Web APIs including concepts such as REST
- Familiar with communication protocols, such as HTTP, TCP, UDP
- Solid mathematics and statistics fundamentals
