The Boring Company, founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, is creating an underground network of tunnels. As a Software Engineering Intern for Fall 2024, you'll be part of a team developing automation and application software for next-generation tunnel boring machines (TBMs). Your role will focus on designing and implementing tools to operate, analyze, and control TBMs, with exposure to the overall system architecture.

To qualify, you should be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent field. Experience in Python, C++, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and SQL/NoSQL databases is required. Familiarity with git, ability to learn quickly, and capability to work with imperfect information are crucial.
Preferred skills include excellent communication, UI design experience, knowledge of HTTP and MQTT protocols, CI/CD pipeline experience, and familiarity with Windows and Linux. Experience in agile teams and computer science competitions is a plus.
