This role combines software engineering and systems engineering expertise to build and maintain large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems.

The position focuses on ensuring The Hartford's Employee Benefits Services – both internal and customer-facing systems – maintain high standards of resilience, reliability, and availability. The ideal candidate will embrace an "Everything as Code" mindset and have extensive experience in modern software development practices.

Key responsibilities include optimizing existing software systems, building infrastructure, and reducing toil through automation. The role offers unique challenges in managing scale within the Employee Benefits Domain, requiring strong expertise in data structures, algorithms, and large-scale system design.

The ideal candidate should be well-versed in cloud technologies, particularly AWS services, and have strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and observability tools.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in office (Tuesday through Thursday) at one of the following locations: Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT, or Charlotte, NC. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $126,160 to $189,240, along with comprehensive benefits including annual bonuses and long-term incentives.

The Hartford emphasizes human achievement and provides opportunities for professional growth while contributing to critical business systems. The company maintains a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, making it an ideal workplace for talented engineers looking to make a significant impact in the insurance technology sector.
