Description For Process Engineer I

Thorlabs is seeking a Process Engineer I to join their TQE/Thorlabs Quantum Electronics division. This entry-level position focuses on semiconductor wafer fab production processes, requiring a blend of technical expertise and hands-on process management. The role involves statistical process control, process documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will work with advanced semiconductor fabrication equipment, develop and optimize production processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities For Process Engineer I

  • Develop and sustain semiconductor wafer fab production processes
  • Monitor process performance using statistical software tools
  • Monitor equipment performance metrics
  • Diagnose and implement corrective actions for process excursions
  • Develop new processes for new product releases
  • Document and update work instructions
  • Train production staff on new processes
  • Manage process equipment operations and maintenance
  • Ensure assigned areas are safe, organized and tidy
  • Participate in engineering discussions and cross-area projects

Requirements For Process Engineer I

  • Must be a US Person to work on ITAR
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fab tools and processes (beneficial)
  • Statistical Data Analysis skills (beneficial)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge (beneficial)
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device physics, especially optoelectronic devices (beneficial)
  • Experience with SQL, Visual Basic, Matlab, JMP and Microsoft Office (beneficial)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (beneficial)
