Description For AI/LLM Engineer

Trellis Law, the leading provider of state trial court data in the US, is seeking an experienced AI/LLM Engineer to join their Engineering team. This role offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning technologies in the legal domain.

As an AI/LLM Engineer at Trellis Law, you will:

  • Design features connecting natural language queries with a large corpus of legal knowledge
  • Build clean, scalable architecture to support a rapidly growing user base and data volume
  • Work on backend services, data flows, and analytics
  • Organize, transform, and serve large data sets in a high-speed, high-volume environment
  • Build and fine-tune LLMs for domain-specific use cases
  • Evaluate LLMs and LLM-based products
  • Deploy custom machine learning models and work on end-to-end ML pipelines
  • Collaborate with the Product team to understand and implement new features

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of backend engineering experience, with 3-4 years building products using LLMs
  • 1-2 years experience fine-tuning LLMs and evaluating LLM-based products
  • 4-5 years experience deploying custom ML models and working on end-to-end ML pipelines
  • Python proficiency and knowledge of SageMaker and Bedrock
  • Strong understanding of Machine Learning, specifically Large Language Models
  • Experience mentoring other Engineers
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
