Description For Senior Engineering Designer (Joint Trench/Civil)

This is an engineering support position. The Senior Engineering Designer will assist UDCE in the design and submission of joint trench, electric, gas, and telecommunication infrastructure that serves a variety of project sites. This role involves strong communication with the project management and design teams, and a solid understanding of utility constraints and requirements.

Required Qualifications: · Fluent knowledge of basic construction documents and exhibits · Skilled knowledge of basic 2D AutoCad, Microsoft Office and Bluebeam · Professional communication skills · Skilled knowledge and application of PG&E's Greenbook

Responsibilities: Extensive use of CAD to create and edit Construction Documents and Exhibits, most commonly Joint Trench Intents. Coordinate across multiple design disciplines in accordance with design standards of various agencies and municipalities. Prepare and support the submission of UDCE's dry utility application packages, and follow-up to ensure movement forward of applications, manage partial or revised submittals. High reliability, responsiveness, consistency, and collaborative communication with the team is required.

  • Design, assemble, and submit dry utility application packages to the appropriate agency. Track project deadlines and support compliance.
  • Review, revise, or delegate necessary revisions to drawings or exhibits to ensure compliance with PG&E's Greenbook standards and other appropriate agency standards. Solid experience with AutoCAD and Bluebeam required.
  • Review redlines and drawings from utility agencies and recommend revision as needed. Coordinate supporting dry utility documentation for completion and submission to PG&E, AT&T, Comcast, DTPS, and other agencies.
  • Attend project meetings, conference calls, site visits and pre-construction meetings. Support construction administration on projects where needed.
  • Maintains positive and productive relationships with all internal and external team members

Work Environment: Hybrid remote work (75%); Some office work and site visits (25%)

Required Experience and Education: Engineering Degree, 2-year or 4-year. Equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of educational achievement.
