Valdes Architecture & Engineering Company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC systems for their Mobile, AL office. This role requires 7-10 years of experience in designing and troubleshooting HVAC/duct systems in manufacturing or petrochemical industries.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing and checking engineering calculations for HVAC system design, conducting code reviews, preparing specifications and datasheets, creating system layouts, and studying existing HVAC systems. They will also serve as the technical point of contact for clients and vendors, participate in field surveys, and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers.

Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 7-10 years of HVAC design experience (steel mills experience preferred)
- Knowledge of HVAC design for laboratories, including BSLs and Vivarium
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASHRAE, ICC, NFPA, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, REVIT, and specialty engineering software
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities For Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC
- Perform and check engineering calculations for HVAC system design
- Conduct code reviews for HVAC design requirements
- Prepare specifications and datasheets for HVAC systems
- Create HVAC system equipment schedules and layout drawings
- Study existing HVAC systems and prepare reports
- Conduct field surveys and evaluations of HVAC systems
- Serve as technical point of contact for clients and vendors
- Provide mentorship for less experienced Engineers
- Travel to client and vendor sites for meetings and inspections
- Address project emergencies outside of core business hours
Requirements For Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 7-10 years of HVAC design experience in manufacturing
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems
- Skillful with technical report writing
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASHRAE, ICC, NFPA, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and REVIT
- Experience with specialty engineering software (e.g. TRACE 3D, AFT Fathom)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship
