Python Engineer

Valkyrie Trading is seeking a Python Engineer to join their interdisciplinary team in Chicago, IL. As a Python Engineer, you will play a crucial role in conceptualizing and authoring technologies that power the company's trading activities in financial markets. This position offers the opportunity to tackle challenges in programming, networking, technology, and finance.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and improving a growing queue of data, quantitative, and analytics applications
• Taking full ownership of projects from design to deployment
• Writing SQL queries and working with SQL databases
• Implementing unit and regression tests
• Managing Python packages and working with Docker
• Collaborating with a team in both Windows and Linux environments

The ideal candidate should have:

• A Bachelor's degree or strong foundation in computers and programming
• 2+ years of experience in developing large-scale production Python systems
• Proficiency in SQL and database management
• Experience with testing frameworks and CI/CD (preferred)
• Knowledge of numerical libraries like NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and interest in the financial industry
• Ability to resolve uncertainty and communicate effectively
