Description For Quantitative Trader

Valkyrie Trading is seeking a Quantitative Trader to join their interdisciplinary team in Chicago. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of finance and technology, focusing on optimizing trading strategies and systems. As a Quantitative Trader, you'll collaborate closely with traders, quants, and software engineers to develop new trading strategies, enhance valuation models, and analyze trading performance.

The ideal candidate should have a strong STEM background with at least 2 years of relevant industry experience. You'll need expertise in programming (C++, C#, or Python), machine learning, and statistics, as well as a deep understanding of market dynamics and microstructure. Experience with CME tick-level futures market data is crucial.

This position offers a chance to work on cutting-edge problems in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You'll be exposed to various aspects of electronic trading, from computer architecture to network optimization. Responsibilities For Quantitative Trader

  • Monitor, optimize, and enhance the overall performance of trading strategies and systems
  • Tackle challenging problems in programming, mathematics, data analysis, and technology
  • Work with traders, quants, and software engineers to develop new trading strategies
  • Create novel and enhance existing valuation models and sources of alpha
  • Perform post trade forensics on specific events of interest
  • Analyze overall trading performance

Requirements For Quantitative Trader

Python
  • Degree in STEM or a strong foundation in computers and programming
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Working experience with CME tick-level futures market data
  • Working knowledge of machine learning and statistics (regression, trees, etc.)
  • Strong intuition with data sets, understanding of market dynamic and microstructure
  • Ability to detect empirical relationships, identify, and design new predictive signals
  • Proven success working with large data sets and developing statistical models
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of computer architecture and networks
  • Programming experience in C++, C#, python, or related language
  • Passion and intellectual curiosity for the financial markets
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The drive and maturity to handle considerable responsibility
  • Capability to quickly recover from mistakes
