Description For Entry-Level Linux Systems Engineer

VES LLC is seeking an entry-level Linux Systems Engineer to support the development of customized Ground Vehicle Operating System (GVOS) for U.S. Army combat platforms. The role focuses on embedded Linux development using Wind River Linux and Yocto Project.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining Yocto-based Linux distributions
  • Kernel configuration and bootloader modifications
  • Writing system initialization and automation scripts
  • Debugging low-level system issues
  • Supporting OS integration into Army ground vehicles
  • Participating in code reviews and testing
  • Creating technical documentation

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Strong Linux system architecture knowledge
  • Experience with Yocto Project and Linux build systems
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting and Python/C++
  • Understanding of kernel modules and device drivers
  • Interest in embedded systems and RTOS
  • Security clearance eligibility preferred
